Het economische aspect spreekt in het voordeel van turboprops, omdat op korte routes de turboprop vaak goedkoper is dan een jet. Turboprops kunnen ook vaak landen en opstijgen op vliegvelden waar de start- en landingsbaan te kort is voor jets.
